I didn't think the D was that bad, considering UK has a very good offense.
That being said, we're just not that good. Add the two fumbles(10 points) to the reasons we lost. Penalties, penalties, penalties. Also, WHY DON"T WE RUN THE BALL.

Every single problem this team showed us in the first two games came back to haunt us in this one.
BAD D - See the blown coverage on the game-winner. Bad special teams - How do we not have a kicker on scholarship who can get the ball inside the 15 yard line with any sort of consistency? Mario's great disappearing act - Thanks for the 5 receptions. Just imagine how good your night could have been if you didn't drop 5 more. Penalties - That stupid false start when we had the go-ahead score on Brohm's plunge. You absolutely cannot commit a penalty like that when the whole world knows Brohm is not letting that ball out of his hands in that position. Why are you moving at all? I don't want to start blabbering about "this team sucks" and "fire Coach Krag", but let me say this one thing. I don't get the feeling that this team cares for one another like they did in the past couple of years. Watching guys not throw blocks for one another or even do things as simple as going over to help a teammate who is getting pushed back by a pile of defenders just leaves you wondering what the goals are (personal or team). I don't know... maybe it was just a bad night. The national title dreams are over, but we still have a BCS spot to play for. The team needs to rededicate itself to getting a LOT better in some facets of the game and put this loss on their shoulders as one huge chip. We're about to get knocked down in the polls and the football world with one heavy hammer. We're going to have to prove we can get up, dust ourselves off, and hit everyone left on our schedule right back in the proverbial mouth.

I have tempered my expectations, so I can enjoy the season. I'm thinking 8-4....anything less and I'll be pissed.
It's back to the future........John L moves back to the 'Ville and UL's team picks up the characteristics. Freddy

The single most disappointing thing to me about the game/staff/season is the lack of running game. I know Allen got 275 yards against Middle, but that just seemed forced and unusual.
I thought maybe, just maybe, the Cards could get by with just a mediocre/below average defense, but there was no way we were winning shit without a running game. And last night, it was there. The holes were huge, the back was willing and able, UK's defense was weak, we just didn't give it to him. I kept thinking, "alright, let's wear 'em down" then Allen would get 8 yards on a carry, and then we'd pass 5 straight times. From the moment we got down 10-0, you could tell Kragthorpe wanted to get it all back at once. We couldn't go 5 plays all night without a 40-yard bomb. That's not how good teams win.

Coack K seems like a really great guy, but to me, he just doesn't seem like the right guy for the job here. We have become used to winning, being in the Top 10, and at the very least, being mentioned when someone brings up the subject of National Championship. I'm not sure Coack K can keep us there. Sometimes to me, he looks overwhelmed on the sidelines. If things don't turn around, Jurich may HAVE to make a change.
