As expected, UK barely finishes walking off the field against Kent, and they're already disrespecting and taunting Louisville. I swear, they NEVER learn.
Louisville reject Maurice Grinter had this to say... Quote:

he does ask a good question about the hype and the reality of louisville's 'defense' so far. what's he supposed to say? that louisville has looked impressive defensively in their 1st 2 games?
personally, i hope louisville's d is spending the week getting some coaching, not reading newspapers and message boards. they certainly don't have that kind of luxury. thankfully, louisville's players...so far...aren't saying anything. but, a lot of us did defend nate harris for saying very similar things before the miami game last year. |

I agree about the hype around Louisville.
last year is last year, we havent proved anything yet this year. we are the ones reading too many newspapers & messageboards. Quote:

How about nothing? There's a reason Brandon Johnson got banned from post-game interviews a couple years back. He made one stupid comment to the media and Petrino made sure he didn't make another. Whether folks want to dismiss it or not, coaches DO read media articles and message boards and pull whatever they can to get their players excited to tear the opponent a new one. The term "bulletin board material" didn't create itself. If you don't think the defense is going to be a little more focused after Maurice Grinter said they were overrated, you're nuts.
Say you're excited for the game, say you're looking forward to the opportunity to upset a highly ranked team, say ANYTHING but that the opponent you are about to line up against is overrated. Quiet confidence has always seemed to work better than cocky arrogance... especially from teams that up to a point have proven zippity against either the opponent or any opponent of significance.

i don't disagree it can and will be used that way. things like that are always blown way out of proportion and used to motivate. i get that, and as i said, i'm glad the cards are keeping their mouths shut. i just think it's kind of silly, that's all.

Ya know, I look at stuff like this and by now I just smirk. So let him talk. Let them all talk, it doesn't matter to me. Louisville has already proved its dominance in this series. UK has everything to gain and nothing to lose if you ask me. It may be a popular "upset special" this week, but if they win it's just that. A shocking upset. They're gonna beat the Cards sooner or later, but Louisville has been on an upward climb the last 15-20 years or so and it's paying off. So if they do, good for them. Let them tear down goal posts. Let them hoop and hollar about how great they are, but we're still in way, way, way better shape the following week. Nobody takes UK football seriously.
