And while we are on the subject of media hacks, somebody needs to set McCartney straight at CNNSI.com. In his "All out blitz" article this week, he notes that West Virginia is sitting in the driver's seat to win the Big East and secure the automatic BCS berth. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...k12/index.html

I have always wondered something myself. Whenever I watch most college basketball/football games on TV, I see mostly students/younger people in the stands, but its seems like most of the crowd at U of L games are not students/ younger people. Has anyone else ever noticed this? Or is this just in my head?
For example, take a look at Corrupt Arena, Cameron Indoor Stadium, or hell, even Assembly Hall. Students/ younger fans goin' NUTS. I know Louisville has great, vocal fans, but sometimes it just seems they just don't get as crazy as the afore mentioned places. Am I just reading to much into this? I guess I'm thinking more about Freedom Hall than Papa John's... |

They have the support of alumni and football crazy fans....problem is in Louisville our fans support the teams better only when their winning. So I'm sure with a down year seats would be empty in Louisville.

Camera angles are a hell of a TV tool. If you actually TALK to most students who go to those places, the blue hairs still run the building. The primary difference between Freedom Hall and Cameron Indoor is that the students at Duke actually get the primo seats on one side of the floor. The side NOT seen on TV is full of the same 40-and-up crowd quietly seated with arms crossed.
I think that UofL could still improve their ticket distribution to students, but it's really not too bad. Other than elimintating guest tickets for undergrads last season (which in turn killed student attendance at bball games), they do a good job getting tickets into the hands of those paying tuition. Now if they could just get those students out of the rafters and on the floor.
