Default If Louisville still needs out-of-conference games

Quote:
Hawaii done begging for a football foe.

"Teams don't want to make the trip anymore," says Hawaii Coach June Jones. "They come here, we kick their ass, they go home."

That's not bravado, folks. That's fact. In the past five seasons, Jones' teams have beaten Michigan State, Alabama, Purdue and Arizona State -- an impressive BCS foursome. No wonder no one wanted in when the Warriors were looking for a game to complete this fall's schedule.

Hawaii's administration officially called it quits last month. No more begging, no more pleading, no more $750,000 guaranteed payout offers. One BCS athletic director told me it costs "no more than $350,000" for a team to travel to Hawaii and play. You do the math. A BCS school could have walked away with $400,000 of cold, hard profit -- for a road game.

$400,000 profit to play in Hawaii......sounds good.

Maybe some day (with the agreement of a return game, of course), but certainly not this year. This is our big road season, where 4 of the 7 Big East games are on opposing turf and Kentucky turns into Papa John's East. If we were to play Hawaii in place of one of our current cupcakes, that would amount to 7 road games and only 5 home contests. A big-time BCS school should NEVER have more road games than home. Most of our peers are playing 7 or 8 games at home in their bid for a national title game appearance.

Good point.

I do remember talk about how no one wanted to schedule U of L, seems like Hawaii is in the same prediciment so a return visit by Hawaii would work.

I like the Hawaii squad I think that would be a good matchup.

Would also be a super nice road trip if you could afford it.
