This doesn't seem like a very good idea. Didn't Army just drop out of C-USA because they couldn't compete against that level of competition? How are they going to compete with USF, West Virginia, and (someday this will hopefully be true again) us?
It solves some scheduling issues short-term, but I don't think this bolsters the conference strength in the long term.

This recent article probably puts an end to that scenario. The Army was being asked to allow Caleb Campbell, first round draft pick by the Lions, to forego his required service and be allowed to enter the NFL. One of the deals trying to be struck was that he would be a recruiter in the offseason. When the Army wouldn't allow that, it effectively put an end to any chance that these schools could get the athletes it needs to compete. Of course the Air Force is somewhat competitive, but neither Army or Navy seem to want to step up their programs.

Army and Navy play a DI schedule, this scenerio would only be 4 of their 11 games.

Texas A & M, Tulane, Air Force all have decent programs, of course some years better than others. They are already at a disadvantage in recruiting because of their height and weight restrictions for military personell. I believe the football players are given some leeway but have to cut weight i'm sure to graduate.

It's still in the early stages, maybe it won't happen at all

First of all, Caleb Campbell was not a first round draft pick, he was a seventh round draft pick, big difference.
Second of all, Army sucks at football. Navy could end up giving some teams some real trouble because the past few years they have been a decent team. When will Notre Dame come to their senses and join the Big East, not to say that they are particularly good this year, but they have the potential to be when they want to be. |

Not defending ND, I hate them sumbitches, but they really dont need to join a conference. They have their own tv contract and always have teams chomping at the bit to play them. Everybody wants a shot at ND. Their schedule is usually pretty tough. If I'm the pres at ND, I'm keeping things just the way they are.
Also got a mention they have their own unique criteria for getting a BCS bowl.
