This seems to be a common thing with the current Head Coach.

I don't think folks need to search very hard to find the revolving door of football players. Problem is that the entrance of that revolving door seems to be out of order.
In other news... PLAYERS WHO HAVE LEFT SINCE SPRING 2007 Michael Adams, DE: concussions Anthony Allen, RB: transferred Lamar Alston, CB: dismissed Jeremy Baker, OL: dismissed Marcel Benson, OL: heart condition Rod Council, CB: dismissed Mike Donoghue, OL: spinal condition Marcus Gordon, OL: left team Aundre Henderson, DL: quit team Jonathan Holston, DE: dismissed Dale Martin, RB: transferred James McKinney, DL: academics (transfer, never played) C.J. Millenbaugh, OL: left team (transfer, never played) Lamar Myles, LB: left early for NFL George Stripling, RB: dismissed Mario Urrutia, WR: left early for NFL Peanut Whitehead, DE: spinal condition Willie Williams, LB: dismissed Tyler Wimsatt, LB: dismissed

I haven't formed an opinion on Kragthorpe yet.
All I know is that you can take each of these things individually and write them off for some reasonable excuse or another. But the only way you can look at these things as a whole is that there is something seriously fucked up with the program right now. What the reason is, I have no idea, but that list is not normal and it's past the point of just being brushed off. Someone from the inside needs to step out and address this crap. This kind of transition just doesn't happen. When a new coach/staff comes to town, some programs get better, some get worse, but they don't just up and explode into a thousand pieces. I still haven't made up my mind about Kragthorpe, but he's not rebuilding here at Louisville, we're past that. He's starting over from scratch. If we don't see a bowl game this year(and that's a total toss-up at this point), we'll probably go 4 or 5 years without one. The reason is that Kragthorpe gambled on a quick fix with all the JUCOs and if they don't fix it quick, we're going to suck for a while. Add to that the BigEast getting better and better. Starting over. Bottom line is that this is going to be perhaps the most important season ever for UofL. The next ten years of the program could hang in the balance. Duh, duh, duh.....

Quote:
If this were just one or two guys, OK, let it go. But 19 scholarship players in a little over a year? Jeez, something is not right with that. Even removing the 4 guys who had medical conditions, we're talking about more than a player a month leaving. You don't see this sort of mass exodus in a program and you can't dismiss every player as someone who just "couldn't cut it" (it being grades, discipline, or the game).

6-6 is what's wrong with the program.
The AD saying publically your rebuilding is what's wrong. Seeing that your coach is not putting up with your bullshit (Urrutia, Allen, Strippling) and if you fuck up your gone, you smoke weed, drink, stay out late, don't make your grades he is sending those players packing. I mean how many chances did Strippling get.....Spillman is back, seems he got the message. Every kid wants to play for a winner, if they came to Louisville and thought they would be in contention for a national championship but now thought it looked like a 7-5season or your AD says the program is rebuilding then you take the easy way out and jump ship. Fuck them, I'll support the players that stay and want to work hard, make grades and do the right thing off the field. If you don't like that go cheer for UK and drink their kool-aid, haha

I'm with Bling......it seems that Kragthorpe has a set of principles and rules that he's running the ship with and those that don't have the character to live up to it are being shown the door. I can't say that I disagree with that approach. I want to cheer for a winner, but if that comes with having to support a bunch of thugs (not saying all those kids are/were) who can't follow the rules, then I'll cheer for my mediocre Cardinals.

I think we're all going to cheer for the Cards no matter how bad they are.
However, losing will not be tolerated, not by Jurich or the fans. No matter how good the little angels are off the field, mediocre football on the field just isn't going to cut it. Jurich himself will tell you that. Now that doesn't mean that bad guys are needed to win at football. It just means that Kragthorpe had better start winning with all of his "good kids" if he wants to stick around. I don't think it's "winning with thugs" vs "losing with good kids". I think you can win with good kids.....but can Kragthorpe win with good kids? Time will tell.
