well, it's tough to miss what you never had, but this is unfortunate.

Well who was the wiseguy who brought in three (good)RBs to play in the same class?

Yeah, but Martin redshirted specifically so he wouldn't be in THAT class. Now he bolts because we lose AA & Strip while getting Darius Ashley? That makes no sense to me and seems plain odd to be honest. Martin was the highest recruited RB of that class and had offers from Michigan State, Illinois, Nebraska, and Wisconsin to name a handful.

I'm all for having talented local kids like Victor Anderson and happy that Powell has excelled in limited time, but this one hurts because I was looking forward to see what a 4-star RB could do.

He obviously lost out on the battle with Anderson and Powell, so this particular 4* back can't do what they can, I guess. I have to believe that if he were better than those two he would still be here and they would be considering transferring, so I can't see this as a big loss. None of these three were going to be content with third-string for three years.

Since he redshirted, does he lose a year of eligibility if he transfers? Don't players only have a five-year playing window?

i'm going to guess it's the same person who in 2006 had the 12th ranked rushing offense in the nation, 2nd in the big east (7th in the nation in passing, 1st in the big east), yet no single rusher in the top 50...in 2005 had the 30th ranked rushing offense in the nation, 3rd in the big east (13th in passing, 1st in the big east), yet no single rusher in the top 25.

maybe having a # of good running backs is not a bad idea?

In the same class? It's not going to happen: three high-profile recruits sticking together for four years at the same RB position.

In 2005, Shelton and Gates were both seniors with Bush and Smith waiting their turn. In 2006, Bush and Smith were seniors with Stripling and Allen waiting their turn. And I'm guessing Shelton, Smith, and Gates weren't as highly recruited as Anderson, Powell, and Martin, but it's just a hunch.
