Cool. Gives me a reason to tune in some games this year.

I spoke to Mike Sr not too long ago and he assured me that Mike is ready to roll, and the leg feels better than it has ever. Hopefully he will get some good PT in this year.

I'm beginning to get VERY concerned that Oakland will draft McFadden this year. Mike's shot at a starting job may end before it ever begins.

What, have you forgotten how bad Bush is? Bad as in good? They better watch out. Bush will get playing time.

if they draft McFadden it could be a numbers game again for Bush in Oakland but I think he would easily get a shot somewhere else.

Yeah, but I've seen this scenario play out too many times. Wouldn't you think a guy as big and capable as Eric Shelton would get a shot somewhere? Yet still he sits in the back of the line in Washington after Carolina dumped him post-DeAngelo Williams draft.

There are a hundred other cases just like Eric's. I hope Michael doesn't become another.

Eric Shelton is a good example, I thought Shelton had good speed for a 230 lb guy and yet he has yet to get a big break....I didnt realize Washington had him on the roster, I never heard that they picked him up.

Good to hear.

Raiders release RB Rhodes after taking McFadden in draft
Bush still has to work his was up the depth chart, still 5 rb's on that roster (Fargas, McFadden, Bush, Jordan & Echemandu from Cal), plus 2 fullbacks.

I'd say at McFaddens price, he's #2 right off the top with last years leading rusher Justin Fargas being #1 (for now) which leaves Lamont Jordan, Adimchinobe Echemandu and Bush to compete for #3.

Tough situation for Bush, not ideal for getting PT.

I can't honestly see Fargas being the #1. The only reason he came out on top is because Lamont Jordan's back fell apart and Rhodes sucked. I still don't understand why they wouldn't release Rhodes and activate Bush at the middle of last season. What difference does it make letting a divisional foe pick him up in April versus last November (that was their claim for keeping him... they didn't want Denver or San Diego to have him)?

Teammates stunned to see Rhodes go

"I didn't expect that," veteran fullback Justin Griffith said. "Not at all."

Neither did Justin Fargas, who was given the Ed Block Courage Award at a banquet in Oakland on Monday night. Rhodes may have fell out of favor with management, but Fargas described him as a great teammate.

"Actually, I was a little surprised," Fargas said. "I didn't foresee that happening. Dominique is a good player and a good locker room guy that brings everybody up.

"Those are the kind of guys you want to have around, so when they let him go, it was a little bit of a shock, a little bit of a disappointment to me."

No one seems able to put a finger on where Rhodes went wrong. In 2006, he was the 100-yard star of the Colts' Super Bowl victory and should have won the MVP award.

Rhodes didn't get a real chance to play until Fargas sprained his knee late in the season. Rhodes started the last two games and had consecutive 100-yard games.

In the offseason, he took a paycut from $3 million to $1.75 million to stay with the Raiders. Then, with no explanation, they cut him.
The last 2 games of the season Rhodes had consecutive 100-yard games, he rushed for 256-yards combined in those two games.

Lamont Jordan and Fargas are both 1,000-yard rushers, Jordan in 2005 and Fargas last season..

Quote:
In 2007, with LaMont Jordan's continuing injuries and struggles, Fargas was promoted to the first string once again. He has averaged near 100 yards per game since taking over as a starter and has solidified himself as a starting running back in the NFL. On December 16, 2007 against the Indianapolis Colts, Fargas reached the 1,000 yard mark for rushing in a season.

On February 13, 2008, the Oakland Raiders re-signed Fargas to a three-year extension reportedly worth up to $14 million after incentives with $6 million guaranteed. Fargas is expected to start going into next season
I think if anyone is to be released next it will be Jordan though, he hasn't played a full feason since his 1,000-yard season in 2005.
