http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3292510

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia running back Noel Devine was among four Mountaineers' football players to plead no contest to misdemeanor battery charges after being arrested Thursday.

Also arrested were defensive back Eain Smith, 19; cornerback Brantwon Bowser, 20; and running back/receiver Jockee Sanders, 19, the Morgantown Police Department said in a news release.

I dont know about those other characters but Noel Devine has had a hard life. Parents dead, lives with his Grandma, has 2 small kids.

I at least give him credit for being a caring Dad.
He could have lived in the lap of luxury with Deion Sanders but he moved back to Ft Meyers, Fla to be with his kids.

Sad to see, thug mentality and Mob mentality can pull a lot of decent folks down, you have to know how to choose your friends wisely.

WHAT?!?!?!

This from the same guy who was roasting our guys for the same crap and calling Petrino a dirty, lying coach who would win at any cost?

The only thing this proves is that MANY high-level DI programs have to take on questionable people if they really want to win at the highest levels. The best athletes, all too often, come from backgrounds where they are more likely to also be the worst characters. Check out the recent rap sheets on the teams who have won the past few national titles.

It will be infinitely interesting to see if Kragthorpe can win by recruiting and instill the right character in his players.

go coach!

Petrino is a millionaire grown man lying butthole.

Noel Devine is a 19-year old college student/athlete with 2 kids and no income.

Great comparison Lindy.

Maybe the other 4 or 5 WVU players involved are thugs and guilty as hell, I was speaking solely of Noel Devine and what I know about his situation, what I have read, what has been put into print about his hard scrabble past and to me if he is guilty I find it sad and tragic.

Nate Harris was certainly what we would call a thug coming to Louisville from a prison work camp diversion program so a players character is an unknown variable sometimes, hard to judge I'll admit that.

I am NOT making any excuses for Noel Devine if he is guilty, he deserves whatever punishment is given out for his crime.

#1 we dont know his level of involvement with this assault or why it occoured.

#2 I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, for the moment and take a wait and see attitude.

Petrino has a proven track record of back room dealings while lying with a straight face to the media and his bosses and his players.

For that I am not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Kragthorpe was at Louisville one year and plenty of people were calling for his job.
I on the other hand am willing to give Kragthorpe a chance.

My opinion is that Kragthorpe was presented with several incidents that cost players playing time and Coach Krag had to deal with that.

many things combined cost the cards games last year the off field dicipline was part of that.

He took the heat for from our fans who wanted him gone but even Ron Cooper got a couple years before he was axed.

If you want to rake Kragthorpe over the coals I'd say since most of the players were Petrinos recruits he should be held accountable as much or more.

the only player that wasnt a Petrino recruit who got in trouble under Kragthorpes watch was Willie Williams who was more or less brought in by Jurich's association with someone in California who suggested Jurich take the chance.

Did Kragthorpe have any say-so in that decision?

I'm sure he certainly did with Williams release, that was the only option he was left with but how can you tell your new boss no we are not bringing this kid into our program when it was Jurich's deal or favor to his friend?

Petrino no longer gets the benefit of the doubt sorry lindy, but I'm done with Petrino, he's gone.

Who said anything about comparing Devine to Petrino? I'm talking about you giving a pass to a player on an ASSAULT charge while roasting Louisville players AND THEIR FORMER COACH when a guy gets busted with weed. You're talking out of two sides of your mouth, even if you babble on about issues that have zip to do with what I find incongruent in your statements.

You are comparing them by immediately bringing up Petrino.

Nothing in my post said I was giving Noel Devine a free pass on an assault charge, you made that fucking shit up and your talking out your ass.

I said I know nothing about the other players background but that Devine has experienced a lot of hardships in his short life.

That doesnt mean I believe he should NOT be punished. I dont believe hardships are a reason to assault others, what I said was from what was posted in the story I am withholding judgement on if he assulted someone or not since the article never said how the players were involved and what each did.

When it comes to criminal charges just being there will implicate you. So he needs to choose his friends wisely.

He could be the ringleader and thrown the first punch for all I know.
If that's true he should pay the price.

That's you looking foolish and embelishing on something I never said.

So then your post making comments about his tough life and "mob mentality" had no purpose for what you thought about this crime or his guilt? In other words, it had no point. Got it.

Did you read the article?

It gave no explanation about what actually happened other than there was an "altercation" which could be anything from some shoving to a beatdown.

Since you dont know and I dont know what transpired neither you or I can say what his level of involvement was.

My point he was he has been through more at 19 than most so although it looks bad I hope his involvement was minimal.

It could have been that he was with the wrong group of people or maybe he was the main instigator.

Since in other aspects of his life he has been able to be mature beyond his years I don't believe that's the case.

Only your can make it about Petrino and Louisville and turn it into a Lindy rant at me.

Who gives a fuck what your point is other than it appears it's any opportunity you have to be a wise ass and direct your bullshit post at me you sieze it.
