Stars doesnt mean much seriously, som 5 star recruits dont pan out while 1,2 & 3 star recruits make it to the NFL.
It's just a recruiting service rating, what happens in the weight room & off the field means much more than some recruiting guru's rating. Quote:

While those of you who feel that 2 and 3 star players are not worth much, allow me to remind you that:
1. No one wanted Dejuan Wheat. 2. No one had ever heard of Fransisco Garcia 3. No one stalked Omobi Okoye 4. Next year's starting QB, Cantwell was a walk on with not even an offer from Duke. ...and the list goes on. I'll take my chances with these "scrubs".

I think we've recruited just fine here. We had a national championship caliber team two years out of three(04, 06) with two, three, and occasional four stars. I don't buy the star system in football at all. In basketball, it's still far from a sure bet, but it's a lot more accurate than football.

I don't think the stars are what annoy most folks who are even remotely following the recruiting haul. It's the other offers and the schools we are competing with (and LOSING TO) in trying to get our guys that's a bit unnerving.
I saw a post on another board that summed up all the other offers that this year's recruits had received. Of something like 22 commits, there are a total of only 33 other BCS offers on the table (and something like 15-20 of those "other offers" went to a trio of guys). Compared to last year, where our meager class of 15 had 60 other BCS offers, you see cause for concern. Basically, I don't like hearing that we have gone from getting guys with an average of 5 BCS offers to a class with an average of 2 BCS offers. All while losing out to Georgia Southern for guys. And beating Temple and Fordham for other guys.

Some HS's start 175 lb offensive linemen, linebackers under 200 lbs, running backs at 160 lbs ect
You see players with DI college size & speed are going to dominate their local HS talent who dont do that at the next level. When a 6'5" 220 lb QB dominates at the HS level and gets a 5 star rating he still has to do that again in college. How many HS teams have 300 lb offensive lineman and 275 defensive linemen? Very few, maybe a couple per team but compare that to how many college teams do. Just like good DI players talk about the difference in the NFL from their college competition is always "the speed of the game"....IE lineman who aren't just big but fast. the difference between HS players can be size, speed, athletic ability, coaching, technique ect

A lot of times a 2star hs player is playing that position because of his athletic skills, but they may be a potential 3-4 star player at another position.
I wish we had a better class, but truly how can you expect one? I have to give Kragthorpe a pass. Why? Because I have no other choice, if I didn't it would ruin my summer, just like my fall was ruined.
