I don't know too much about this kid from Bowling Green, but Ryan Wallace is having 2nd thoughts...for Duke and Wake Forest no less.

There are concerns, of course, but I say we reserve judgment until the class is wrapped up and see what the staff can do next year. Kragthorpe, coming from CUSA, is obviously used to recruiting hidden gems. We also have people on staff who are used to competing with BCS big dogs, so over the next few years (if Kragthorpe can stick around that long) we should see a melding of that.

Just out of curiosity I took a look at some of the schools we competed with over this years recruits. Without going into specifics for who got recruited by which school:

NC State
South Carolina
Michigan State
Cincy
Florida
UT
Miami (OH)
Minnesota
Boston College
Illinois
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Arizona
Texas Tech
Kansas State
Miami (Fl)
USF

And that's not even including information on JUCO kids since scout does a horrible job evaluating or tracking them. I'd say that's pretty good company. Some of those schools may not be traditional powers but do have great, young coaching staffs, and are on the upswing (NC St. comes to mind). I think it's pretty unrealistic to expect us to be recruiting with Ohio State and Florida and USC year in and year out. We weren't there yet under Petrino and we're still not there. No reason to jump ship so far. Kragthorpe, and his staff, got where they are at least in part by a knack for spotting and developing football talent.

Some of those schools may have been listed on a kid's visits or profile, but I'm pretty sure that not all of those actually OFFERED the players we have committed. I'd say there is a big difference in a school being listed as interested and actually offering.

The only school that I listed that didn't actually offer, according to scout, was Florida... All the others did unless I overlooked one.

BIRD football recruiting

Well, I don't follow the recruiting scene much, especially those rankings. I note on inside the ville that recruits are pouring in, mostly 2 and 3 star ones; but, we've always done well with lower ranked recruits.

And ranking of a class going out has always been notches higher than that class was ranked going in.

So, from those of you who are more up on the recruiting scene, what do you think so far?
