Other folks have (rightly) questioned whether it was WVU shredding the documents and now trying to put the blame on RR. Like you said, there is very little that can follow a coach to his next school from a disciplinary point of view. If RR let skeezy things happen at WVU, that's WVU's cross to bear. Not his.

I think the reality is that this boils down to simple childish antics by both parties because of the "divorce". Rodriguez leaves, West Virginia asks for their buyout money. RRod counters by claiming the school didn't hold up its end of the contract, so the school sues him and it looks like this thing is going to court. Now RRod destroys a lot of valuable player info to give the program and school a big, fat "FU" on his way out the door.

Basically Rodriguez is that bitch who cuts up your furniture and keys your car because you won't let her leave with your money.

OK so this shredding of every single document or them vanishing could be like the fire to cover up a murder, so to speak.

Rich Rod is just trying to gain the upper hand if it does go to court by controlling every shred of football related evidence from his tenure at WVU.

bling: illegal things get documented all the time

illegal accounting procedures, conversations get recorded, etc.

there can be reasons to document something despite it being illegal, such as for your own tracking purposes, or, dare i say it.. stupidity

people are caught committing crimes frequently ONLY because they were documented in some way or another
