The coach they are replacing took the head coaching job at Purdue, that has to make this job very attratctive. I would hate to lose him, but if he wants it, I hope he gets it. It definitely will hurt both UL and UK in recruiting if he does.

Tiller is "retiring" after the 08 season. Danny Hope from EKU has been hired as the asst. Head Coach and will replace Tiller.

Huh... that one went right by me.
Purdue is really establishing this as a departmental policy, aren't they? First Matt Painter, now Hope. It's an interesting approach...

It has it's merits, but you best be sure that the guy you hire is really the one you want. If you hire him and he comes in and pisses a lot of people off during his asst Head Coach year trouble lays ahead. It only works with a "retiring" coach.
Picture this one, Pitino as asst Head Coach to Denny for a year.

You know, in some ways I see this playing out with Pitino now that you mention him. If not one of the guys currently on the staff, I could see a real possibility that a guy like Cronin or Willard comes back in the final year to help make a smooth transition to the new regime. Jurich just seems to really love Pitino and Pitino things. That's his guy, all the way up to whoever Pitino's guy is to replace Pitino.
