Default Update on Allen Transfer

One quote stuck out in particular...

http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/...D=200880108036

Quote:
"They told us that if they let Anthony go there, it would be open season on their other players," Amos Allen said. "We're not even sure if Anthony wants to go to Arkansas, but we thought the restriction was unfair."

Actions speak louder than words. The Allens wouldn't be throwing a fit about AK if he hadn't planned on going there...

And now he's stuck thinking about going to a community college. Dumb. Just dumb. He should've stuck it out..talked to J. Brohm. UL has a nice record recently for putting RB's in the NFL.

Agreed. Allen jumped the gun on the transfer just because Stubbs didn't like his running style.

Allen is a tad slow but a hard runner when he's healthy. If he could get a little leaner and drop maybe 15 lbs he could probably improve.

He's hurting himself right now by not being in an offseason program, although if he goes DI he has a whole year to workout.

I dont think he's helping his career right now.

Didn't Kragthorpe say he preferred little, quicker backs to bigger, power backs? I think I remember him saying that.

I would be willing to guess "IF" Bush had come back healthy for his senior year Kragthorpe would have had a change of heart.

does it matter what kragthorpe thinks here? sure he will play a part in the offense.. probably a big part.. but i'm guessing jeff brohm likes a power running game

We have a winning answer. That crap last year is going down as a Charlie Stubbs move in my book. The final quarter against Rutgers gave me a glimpse of how things SHOULD be under Brohm. Running backs actually running the plays they are built to run and a return to power running up the gut to wear down opponents and set up PA passing. Allen probably did freak out when he thought the program was moving to a smaller back attack, but that is his own inability to wait it out and listen to Jeff. I'm sure JB would have told him that there were plenty of carries for a big guy like Allen.

If you have a big, talented back who is healthy and can move the ball.....why would you abandon that and say, this offense is going to use smaller backs?

Allen got spooked, probably his dad was in his ear too.

Mistake by Allen in my opinion, doesnt meant he cant pick his career back up elsewhere but I dont think he had a real need to transfer.
