Chris Philpott commits to UL. I know, how stoked can we be about a place kicker...but with Art leaving we needed someone good.

Philpott pulls the trigger on a commitment

St. Pius kicker Chris Philpott has committed to Louisville.

The senior was perfect on 36 extra-point attempts this season and made 36 PATs and 12 of 16 of field goals. The 6-0, 185-pounder is a standout soccer player for the Golden Lions and played defensive back for the Class AAAA playoff team.

Philpott, who had offers from Air Force, Army and Navy, cancelled a visit to Virginia after committing to play for the Cardinals.

He is expected to follow Louisville all-conference kicker Art Carmody, the NCAA scoring leader for kickers.

“He knows he has big shoes to fill, but he is excited about it,” said Robert Philpott, Chris’ dad. “He has a chance to be the team’s kicker next season.”

I didn't think Philpot had too high of a ranking - one star. I noticed you guys are supposed to be getting a hotshot offensive lineman, though.

It looks like Pitt's getting some much-needed four and five star offensive talent. They may come out swinging next year.

wannstache has had very good recruiting classes the last few years. He just cant seem to do shit with them.

Yep... talent has never been a problem for Wanny at Pitt. He just can't coach to save his life.

As for Philpot, he's a 3 star according to Rivals. Carmody wasn't even ranked, so getting a kid who has scholarship interest from anyone is a big deal here. Petrino rarely handed out free rides to specialists.
