Louisville released Allen pretty fast after he asked and he has the option of every school in the country except for about 12 DI schools so I doubt he's complaining.

Quote:
Amos Allen, who was driving from the family's home in Tampa, Fla., to retrieve Anthony yesterday afternoon, said going to Arkansas "is the last thing on our minds right now." If that should change, he said, the family would appeal U of L's decision to block that transfer.

"We've got a lot of options right now," Amos Allen said. "We want to find out who's going to run the ball."

after getting pushed into some equipment on the sideline during the fifth game at North Carolina State, he produced just 118 rushing yards the rest of the season, and his carries decreased significantly.

Amos Allen said his son hurt his right shoulder so severely in the N.C. State game that he shied away from hits and couldn't lift his arm to catch passes the rest of the season. He underwent shoulder surgery last week.

"That injury was 100 percent of why his numbers went down," the father said.
Sounds like Allen's shoulder injury was more severe than Louisville let anyone know, he still finished the season and played a fair amount for being hurt.

Still given the facts I still dont know why he would want to sit out a year and have to start all over.

I think he'll head back to Florida, maybe FAU or FIU would be a good option for him, I doubt FSU, USF or Florida would be a good place for him to start over.

As long as a kid sits out a year, and is willing to do that. Why does the university have any right to say where he goes.

A coach can go anywhere they want but a player cant . These rules are ridiculuosly unfair to the students.

Good point, I guess they just figure the player on the field can hurt you more than the coach can.

the rules are in place that allows the schools to do that for whatever reason.

Maybe when the player leaves and the coach stays the same you could go play for a team you have to face every year in conference and the player could give away tips on what said offense or defense plays ect.

I really dont think it would matter even if he went to AR. Im with those who think the only reason for that is b/c other ppl on the team would want to follow. As for other schools..who cares if he wants to go to them?

That's where I'm coming from on this. I don't think we need to have 3 or 4 guys wanting to be reunited with Petrino lining up to go out the door. I don't care if he goes to WVU, Cincy, UK or wherever, I just don't think UL should release him to a former coach, the coach that recruited him. Freddy

whoever wants to head out the door should be allowed to go wherever they want. holy crap. is this slavery or something? if a kid came to u of l when bp was there, most likely he came to play for bp. why wouldn't he want to do that again if he had the chance? it's college sports, guys. c'mon.

I wouldnt call it slavery when a school invests in a kid and gives him a free education, books, housing and meals.

They basically have a contract to educate that player and the player becomes a student athlete for that school.
There are stipulations that go along with transfering, I think all players are aware of this when they accept a scholarship.

Didn't the player Bobby Knight choked, Neil Reed want to go to Iowa and play for Steve Alford and Knight wouldnt let him so he went to Southern Miss isnt that right?

Same with Lawernce Funderburke didnt he want to transfer to Ohio State but Knight wouldnt let him out of his scholarship and had to appeal just to get his release?
