Actually, Petrino was the offensive coordinator for Louisville that year. He called all the plays on offense. I guess that's where Lach was coming from.

No, trust me Junkman. He meant as HEAD COACH. I think he even said that. Definitely the lead-in was about how Petrino's 41-9 record was inflated entirely by an easy schedule and he didn't win anything on the road. Then he listed the top 4 wins of the Petrino era.

re-birth? when was the original birth? please don't say the fiesta bowl against a 6-5 alabama team that neither team would have even been playing in if it wasn't the vogue thing to boycott arizona that year because of their lack of a mlk holiday.
that win over fl st. was the beginning of a terrific run for the cards that has come to a screeching halt. was a great night though. |

I don't get the urge to downplay the Fiesta bowl. So what if it was a fluke or whatever they made it? I see a lot of teams in certain bowls that shouldn't (or is questionable) be there (look no further than ND last season). They don't put asterisks on their bowl wins...
Why should you? In other words, be proud and quit making excuses. UL had some good years under Howard. That was the birth of decent UL football..especially compared to what it was. I'd say it declined a bit in CUSA til Petrino arrived. Oh what the hell. I meant JLS. Although he had things flying apart by the time he split.

Agreed with CF. I'd hardly say that Illinois belongs in the Rose Bowl this year or that the VT-Kansas matchup is a BCS berth that was really earned by either team. But you can bet that all those programs will be touting the win if they get it next month.
On top of that, I'm REAL sure that Ohio State did nothing to get into the national title game. Somehow I don't think their fans will downplay the championship if they somehow beat LSU.

To Howards credit it put it to a vote by the players and they took it but to me that does take away from the "luster" so to speak from us playing in it. Still it was a great win and an exciting game. I played with RB Curtis Lipsey & RB Latrell Ware with the Bulls and they were both tremendous athletes. Curtis has several opportunities to play Arena and Canadian football but had a new family here in Louisville. RB Curtis Lipsey hurdles defender http://youtube.com/watch?v=xIH2KjGPhBg He loves the game of football and really didnt care what level he was playing on he just loved to play. Latrell was one of the most powerful RB's I have ever seen, he straight armed a guy all the way to the ground and pinned the guys helmet to the ground while he was running past him.
