Spurrier probably could. Saban... not so much.

The only difference between Saban and Petrino is Saban stuck around the whole season before leaving. We see how much good that did the dolphins.

Don't forget about Houston Nutt resigning to take over Mississippi. Remember, this is the SEC, Petrino will fit like a glove.

This is where I agree with the complaints about the interviewing processes and the minorities not getting a fair shot. It seems you see the same handful of coaches just getting juggled around every few years. Its the same names year in and year out. Its a good old boy network. The up and coming coaches never get a chance to get their foot in the door.

bad analogy as far as Saban and the Dolphins go.

Cam Cameron clearing house and signing no free agents to step in and replace 6 or 7 starters and then not picking up starters through the draft is what hurt the Dolphins.

DT David Bowens-starter Jets
QB Gus Frerotte-started in St. Louis
WR Wes Welker - Starter in NE
RB Sammy Morris-starter in NE
TE Randy McMichael-starter in St. Louis
DT Kevin Carter-starter Tampa
WR Chris Chambers (during the season)-starter Chargers
RB Travis Minor

All those players have contributed to their current teams as starters or in Minors case special teams.

you cant just clear house and not replace them with at least starter caliber players and expect to compete, I assume Cam Cameron has figured this out by now.

Picking up LB Joey Porter for a HUGE contract when Miami desperately needed a SS and a WR and a backup RB for Ronnie Brown.

I think not signing the Seahawks Ken Hamlin, who now starts in Dallas and the Saints Donte Stallworth who now starts in New England who Miami brought botth in for visits, were the biggest mistakes Cameron made.

I thought well Cameron has something up his sleeve for the draft but nothing magical happened there either.

Ted Ginn is a good return guy, he had 2 KO returns for TD's called back and had one kick off and one punt return for TD's that counted but a 1st rounder top 10 pick (#9) was too high, Ginn has to contribute as a WR too and he has one TD and not even 300 yards receiving yet this year.
