Default DNC Convention: Thoughts....

Jeebis Cripes the coverage of this thing is unreal.

I never want to hear how slanted FOX is again. MSNBC is practically falling over themselves. Olberman and Matthews are discussing the size of the crowd and then started making fun of McCain and how many people he was likely to have tomorrow at the VP announcement. There is no doubt that they are in the tank for Obama. They championed him over Hillary and there is no reason to expect different now. I have always liked Matthews, but he has caught Olbermans disease.

FOX is focusing mostly on the parallels with Kennedy and Obama and have also given heavy coverage to whom the VP may be for McCain. I still say they put on the best coverage of the conventions and have for the past few election cycles. They have the most interesting interviews and analysis. Shepard Smith gave a nice "out" from his show talking about how inspirational tonight has to be for black Americans and how that should go hand in hand with how good this is for the country overall.

Poor CNN. They have to have the most boring coverage ever. Someone said the other day that CNN had a bunch of old windbags.....that's about the damned truth.

The only way to watch this stuff without all the hyperbole is through CSPAN.

By the way, did anyone see the McCain ad running today? McCain congratulates Obama and makes mention of the history of it all, including the speech of Dr.King. Tip of the cap to him for doing so. Politics aside this has been an important couple of days for the nation.

And to finish up.....WOW....all those people! That just looks spectacular. The Dems should be proud that they have put on such a great show tonight and over the past few days. The main speakers have been more mainstream and inspirational. Yeah, the stuff is mostly fluff, but that's what the convention is for, to make a presentation.

The Republicans are usually very good at this sort of thing, but they are really gonna have to jump high this time around, as the Dems have raised the bar.

CJ, I have to agree with you about Fox's convention coverage. Not bad. My problem is that Fox potrays themselves as "fair and unbalanced". Not even close, but there coverage has been very professional.

I agree....the only fair and balanced coverage is on CSPAN. Discussion, but no real analysis from talking heads that are getting paid to push an agenda or push conversations. MSNBC, CNN, and FOX manipulate the news almost as much as they cover it. Freddy

I am getting my coverage from NPR as I don't have cable, etc. They have been pretty enthusiastic in terms of the historical nature of it all and I am curious how the coverage will be next week. They have had commentators from both sides of the aisle giving brief comments, but they have done a lot more coverage from the floor. That is always going to be enthusiastic.

But, I have to agree about MSNBC. Olbermann and Matthews have been blowing Obama for months.

corporations have their agendas, politicians have their agendas, the media has an agenda, voters have an agenda.

If a reporter gets dispatched to cover the election and impressed by McCain and not impressed by Obama are they not being fair and balanced?

If a politician gives a bad speech or has inadaquate stances on issues or just doesn't have the better solutions how should that be reported?

I'm not sure what you are looking for Bling?

If someone is reporting the news, they should tell it like it is and don't embelish or exclude anything based on thier feelings. The media should not have an agenda, when they are reporting and covering news.

Now, news analysis is different. News analysis or an editorial is opinion. Express an agenda there and that's OK. Freddy
