Iran is full of fanatics but can you really blame them for gearing up and being a threat with the US military right next door? Saddam didn't have shit to hide but if he didn't play cat and mouse with the US to make the appearance of something to hide he would have been a mouse in a snake tank to the rest of the Middle East. Iran's president is twice the nut job Saddam was and it is a known fact Iran is training and sending operatives into Iraq, it's their best way to fight a war under the disguise on it being terrorism before actually having to fight a war Iran vs. USA.

All politicans double speak. Just look at the quotes from the Dems McCain has in his ads. Biden and both Clintons saying Obama is not qualified to be President. It's their own words so it can't be spun, and I agree with them. Obama doesn't have the experience to be President, he opposed the troop surge that brought down the violence in Iraq, he would be a President that would cut and run and waste the sacrifice of so many of our soldiers.
I'm not going for McCain either though. I agree he is just 4 more years of Bush and he supported going to war in Iraq. I was against going to war in 2003, saw no point in it whatsoever and I think he just wanted to fix daddys mistake. But I'm in the camp that thinks to much blood has been spilled by our soldiers to leave without getting the job done. If our soldiers leave Iraq now it will just become another part of terrorist state Iran and a terrorist safe haven like Afghanistan was. I agree with Lindy that both of these guys suck and both would make horrible Presidents. I'm not voting for either one of them. I want to know WTF is up with the 2 partys giving us shit like Bush, Gore, Kerry, McCain and Obama to vote for. I wouldn't want any of those guys in the same timezone as the White House.

Don't know if you meant it that way Alert, but I never said anything about troops being brought in. We have to back them up diplomatically, with aid, and with cover if any other nations decide to get involved. Freddy

IMO, we are given the candidates we get because we don't care enough to hold these guys feet to the fire in both parties. We have become so entrenched in actually disliking or even hating the other party that we buy into every ounce of hype, and half truths we are sold. Most Americans are somewhere in the middle, but the far wings of each party take the power to speak for each party and force the candidates to pander to them. McCain could not get the nomination without pandering to the religous far right that have no compromise in them. Same with Obama, only he had to say things like the "surge isn't working" "the surge won't work" "we need immediate withdrawal" " no drilling for oil" and such. That's the reason they went with Obama over Clinton. She voted for the war. One issue took her out of the top spot. WE let the far reaches on both sides get the power because we are too stubborn to look at voting for the other party. We are not enemies. We are all Americans and I feel like I shouldn't have to resign myself to voting for one party and one party only. I am not much into political hate speech. That's a problem too. And it's not just the candidates. I've witnessed it on here and other forums. If someone doesn't agree, simply call them names or ridicule their beliefs. Where is the room for debate? Why can't we discuss something without having insults tossed around? Are we scared we may learn something? Are we scared if we challenge our own beliefs, or have them challenged we may actually come up with a new line of thinking? Freddy

They are at opposite sides of the spectrum.
McCain is a Bush like hawk, he voted for the Iraq war in 2003. He would be the more likely candidate to start a war with Iran. Obama on the other hand is a pussy, he was against the surge that brought the violence down in Iraq, he wanted us to pull out when it became clear al-Qaeda had come to the country to fight us there, and he does not support the mission the troops are fighting and dying to complete. I was against the war but realize how critical it is now to finish the job and clean up the mess we made. Anything less than that is unacceptable to me, I can't think of a more disgusting thought than 4000+ Americans dying only to have us pull out and let al-Qaeda have the country. These are the 2 worst candidates we've had since....well Bush and Kerry, it can't get any worse than those 2 actually, or can it?

I really dont know how to react on this one
As far as the issue of Iran goes....as an active military member let me tell you what I know In accordance with LOAC (Law Of Armed Conflict) the Iranians have 350,000 graves already dug in the desest in aticipation for an conflict or a war of somesort. So they are preparing for something and know that something is comming from Isreal. Around June, the Isrealian Air Force did "practice" exercises over sites of interest in Iran using the F-16s (THAT WE GAVE THEM) the F-15s (THAT WE GAVE THEM) and multiple bombers (THAT WE ALSO GAVE THEM) Iran responded 2 weeks later by testing their Shahab-3 longrange missles. CNN.com reported that they successfully made it to targets in parts of the Middle East, and European Parts of Interest with the capibility of hitting the base that I am stationed at currently. We were briefed about this while I was at Sheppard Air Force Base Texas and briefed again when I arrived here. This base constantly runs at FPCON BRAVO so we are on a bit of a hightened alert. For those that dont know what FPCON is, google it. Bottom line is that we are all preparing to Deploy at some point while we are here. Myself included. For me it could come at anytime. So we know that if Isreal desides to push that button and make the first move, know that Iran can push back and then some. We will be going over there to protect our way of life the way I protect my fiancee and child that is on the way. Unless something happens, expect us to be fighting in Iran within 1-2 years

Isreal absolutely does not fuck around. They will light Irans ass up in a New York minute. They have been dealing with this type of shit for decades and wont stand for any threat in their backyard. They may be a smaller country, but they have the technology and the know how to get it done. And they got us.
The problem, just like Iraq, wont be "winning" the inital battles. It will be the aftermath. You can occupy, but that doesnt mean you can conquer.
