Michelle
Michelle Obama's speech tonight was superb. She made a lot of points without being too strident or condemning. I hope some of you got a chance to watch it. Personally I love this shit. As I get older I have become more cynical, but I also still have hope that this country can achieve the greatness that is within its reach. and that we can once again take the lead in the global pursuit for justice and equality. Peace.

I guess I am too young and cynical to want to believe any of that yet. I see my fellow youth (most of them, anyway) and the people currently running this country and I am convinced that exactly zero politics are conducted with any sort of impotus on actual issues. It's a big popularity contest won by the prettiest candidate, regardless of whether they have any ability to see the country's collective plight and/or ability to enact changes to address that plight.
I hope I can find a way to believe in the country again someday.

I feel your pain (in my best Clinton voice). I also feel bad that someone so young has lost the faith, but I certainly understand it. In my mind this is our last best chance, and the odds say that he ain't gonna make no diff anyway, but I just can't say FUCK IT.
Not trying to rant, but the only hope we have is to harness the lobbies and their influence. I'm not holding my breath.

Well I was walking by a TV and heard her speaking and I wondered what she was doing on TV giving a speech?
I remember hearing Barak Obama being interviewed and he said his wife Michelle wasn't political, she had a brilliant mind but she wanted to be a Mother/wife but not a politician.

So why was she on TV?
I assume it had something to do with the election? Was she reciting her favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe
