Default Dish vs Direct

So I think I'm going to finally make the move to satellite, because I will finally have the opportunity to when we move in 2 weeks. I'm leaning towards Dish, because you can get local channels, but yet Direct has the most HD channels..............HELP!!!!

Not sure you're in Louisville, but i'm pretty sure Direct has locals in HD. Dish doesn't yet. Direct has the nfl thing going. Dish doesn't. Both have an insane number of hd channels though.

And from experience, Dish has the best receiver on the market which can really make a huge difference...although i haven't tried direct's new one since they dumped tivo.

DTV does have the locals. I've been with DTV since 1995 and have never regretted it. Freddy

I had DirecTV for several years with no complaints, I switched to Dish because they had a horse racing channel that wasn't available on Direc. One thing I can tell you is that you will have to buy one of the 2 most expensive packages on Dish to get ESPNU, it comes in a basic sports package on Direc.

I've been with Dish Network for around 10 years and have never had any trouble. Also have some friends using Direct TV and have never had problems. I think the best thing to do is check what you would get from both systems and pick what would be the best for you.

I know you can get the NFL package using Direct TV but not with Dish Network.

Used to have DirecTV. Didnt care for it. Every time it would rain, was cloudy, a bird flew over etc I would lose my signal. I knew of several other people that had the same issues.. Not sure if its still like that or not..

I know several people that have dish and love it other than the lack of local channels.

I rarely have problems with rain fade....has to be really pouring down. Freddy

The only thing I didn't like about using a satellite dish is my internet connection. I had to go with DSL which was fine until Alltel sold out to Windstream and Windstream sucks. One time I had a shutdown twice in one day. Insight has now come out with a package getting internet connection, phone service and cable tv at a package price.

I still love my my Dish Network so I checked with Insight and they offer a service with internet and phones only for a decent price. They will becoming in on the 2nd to make the switch. I'm so happy that I'll be getting away from talking to a bunch of foreigners when I'm having a DSL connection problem.
