I was listening to Bob & Will on the way into work this morning. They were pointing out that Brooks is just being an old-school coach and realizing that he has to replace a lot of skill players in the first game this season - which just happens to be a rivalry game. They think the last thing Brooks wants to do is put Curtis Pulley on ESPN in a rival stadium with national TV excitement/hype.
Makes sense, but it's not like we're trotting a bunch of 4-year starters out there. That will be the first game where this is truly Hunter's team. It will be the first game (likely) that Bilal Powell starts. It will be the first game for a slew of wide receivers and linemen. Not to mention the entire defense.
Basically, it's another lame excuse.
