How they end up is usually pretty accurate. You're looking at an entire body of work to determine if a team was "good" or not. UK ended up proving they were a very mediocre team, capable of playing really well and capable of playing pretty bad, with no real consistency.
At the end of the day, two five-loss teams beat LSU. If you don't think that hurts their claim to being the best team in the country so be it.
